Kuwait To Deport Migrants Protesting Against Remarks On Prophet Muhammad

This decision was taken because the protesters have violated the laws and regulations of the country prohibiting the sit-in or demonstration of migrants in Kuwait.

Kuwait has said that it will deport migrants who participated in a protest organized against the remarks made by suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma on Prophet Muhammad. News agency ANI has given this information quoting local media. The report said that this decision was taken because the protesters have violated the laws and regulations of the country prohibiting the sit-in or demonstration of migrants in Kuwait.

Nationality of migrants not mentioned

As per the Arab Times report: said authorities are in the process of “arresting the migrants and sending them to deportation centers to be deported to their countries”. It has been said in the report that these migrants will be banned from re-entering Kuwait. The report quoted instructions to the authorities that all migrants in Kuwait should respect the laws of Kuwait and not take part in any kind of demonstrations.” However, the report did not mention the nationality of the protesting migrants Is.

Actually, Suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma’s comment on Prophet Muhammad has created a stir in the Gulf countries. There people have started large-scale protests. In such a situation, in the past, these countries had summoned the Indian envoys objecting to the statement and demanded action in the whole matter. India, however, dismissed the remarks as being made by “vulgar elements” and said it has taken strong action against those making controversial comments on Twitter against minorities.

In response to a media query regarding the statement issued by the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry on objectionable tweets in India, the Indian Embassy spokesperson in Kuwait said, “Ambassador Sibi George had a meeting at the Foreign Office, which included some objectionable tweets by people in India. Concerns were raised in this regard.” Strict action has already been taken against those making derogatory remarks.

Significantly, the Bharatiya Janata Party has suspended its spokesperson Nupur Sharma from the primary membership of the party and expelled its Delhi media chief Naveen Kumar Jindal for his provocative remarks.
